To Spain - on my way.

Perth to Barcelona.  23 -24 May 2018. On my way.

My adventure has begun. Left Perth at 11pm on a Qatar Airline A380 Airbus - an eleven and a half hour flight to Doha in Qatar. Was upgraded to Premium Economy on the upper deck, so that was a good start. Comfortable seat with plenty of leg room. Watched a movie, enjoyed a dinner and wine, then settled down at for a sleep. No-one behind me so was able to tip the seat back, pop my head support cushion around my neck, and dose off. Slept for almost 7 hrs, so that felt really good. Then watched The Greatest Showman about PT Barnham and his circus. Good movie.
Green where irrigated

The sky started to lighten at 4am, and by 5am it was fully daylight. Breakfast was served, and a while later had good views from my window seat as we flew over Qatar - very dry barren island apart from a few irrigated areas.

The temperature when we landed at 5.30am was 36C!  We were told that as it is Ramadan, the smoking of cigarettes and consumption of food or beverages in public places is forbidden for everyone.                      The airport terminal is very modern with upmarket shops such as Harrods and Tag Heuer.

A train took me through the terminal to one of the distant gates. Aircraft left gate on time, then had to wait for 30 mins for clearance to take off.

Seven hour flight to Barcelona. After another breakfast, as I had three spare seats beside me, I took the chance to stretch out and have some Zzzzs.
I was fortunate to have a window seat as we flew in to Barcelona from which I had great views of this large sprawling city with its port and golden sand beaches on the shores of the Mediterranean.
Arrival was the easiest I had ever had at any international airport. No arrival card to fill in; greeted by a smiling customs officer who stamped my passport and wished me a pleasant stay; I collected my bag from the carousel and walked out through the Nothing to Declare door! Barcelona, here I come.
